Once your order has been received and paid for I begin building it from the ground up!

I use a combination of Acrylic, wood and Steel bases so each pair starts with it's base.

Steel plugs are made in large batches during the summer. I use a variety of molds and forging techniques to create durable, high quality tunnels that can be filled using resin. Since metal is only made once per year, these plugs can be out of stock for a while. Please feel free to message me if you'd like to know when they are back in stock!

Wood plugs are made using a wood turning device known as a lathe. Since the wood plugs are only offered in one style (double flare) I prepare "pucks" in the available sizes and refine them once ordered, giving them the nice smooth curve. I then seal the pair with Jojoba oil before moving onto the next step.

Acrylic plugs are made with PMMA acrylic using injection molding then they are filled with layers and layers of resin to create a safe and beautiful plug for your stretched ears.

First, the ordered size is verified and confirmed - once the base has been made the size is confirmed once again. At any point in these steps, if the size is off by 2mm the process will be restarted.

• This process takes 1 - 2 hrs and is done in batches (if acrylic)

Certain plugs and designs include hand painted layers or intricately placed glitter (see the Bee Plugs) This can extend the processing time past the average but makes for beautiful earrings. Each piece of glitter is indeed hand placed!

• This process can take 2-3 days

Before the "Dome" process, the size is again verified and confirmed before proceeding to the next step. At any point in these steps, if the size is off by 2mm the whole process will be restarted.

For the last step - After a nice solid dome has been placed to seal the entire piece the pair is placed within an autoclave.

An autoclave is a device used to sterilize equipment, materials and, in our case hand-made jewelry, by exposing them to high-pressure saturated steam at a specific temperature, typically 121°C (250°F), for a set duration. Commonly used in medical, laboratory, and industrial settings, autoclaves ensure the elimination of harmful microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and spores, making items safe and sanitary for reuse or bio-wear.

• This process can take 5 - 48 hrs

After your pair have dried and cooled down they are placed in another small machine to have a final, soft protective layer sprayed over them. This leaves them feeling and looking like glass as well as seals any micro-sized holes left by the acrylic that can harbor bacteria. This layer also waterproofs the earrings, making them safe to wear in the water or shower in.

Metal & Wood plugs do not receive this extra coat. Please do not submerge your metal or wood plugs in the water.

• Orders are reviewed for accuracy, confirming items, quantities, and shipping details.

If an item glows in the dark, it will be tested for glow quality right before packaging.

• Plugs are packaged as pairs within a windowed mylar bag. The bag is sealed with a label that, if broken, invalidates any returns.

I do not accept returns if the label is broken.

• If a product includes glass, bubble wrap is used to ensure perfect condition.

Within the package you'll be able to find a hand written thank you, a care card and a few stickers, because I want my patrons to feel special when they open their orders.

After that, I print out the shipping label, which includes the patron’s address and tracking information. Once the package is ready, I either drop it off at the carrier or schedule a pickup if I have a lot of orders to drop off.

Finally, I send the tracking details to you so you know you order is on the way. I like to keep everything efficient but personal because it’s important to me that my patrons feel valued and excited about their purchase.
